What this website collects, why we collect it, and how to ask us to correct or remove it.

Who we are
Empathy Community High School is a secondary school in Mayuge District, Eastern Uganda, and a program of Empathy Children Initiative. For anything in this policy, contact us at info@empathycommunityhighschool.org or call +256 742 204 494.
What we collect
We only receive information you choose to send through this website:
- Enquiry and contact forms: your name, email address, phone number if you give one, and your message.
- Admission applications: the student's name, parent or guardian name, phone number, email address, the class applied for, and anything you write about the student.
- Newsletter signup: your email address.
Our hosting providers also record basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type. This is used for security, reliability and diagnosing faults, not for advertising.
Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry or process an admission application.
- To send school news and updates if you asked for the newsletter.
- To keep the school records needed to run admissions, boarding and sponsorship.
- To keep the website secure and working.
We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not set advertising or analytics cookies. Our hosting providers may use strictly necessary technical measures to serve and protect the site.
Who can see your information
Your information is seen by the school staff who need it to answer you or process the application. Our website and admin system are hosted by service providers who may process the data on our behalf. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect a child's safety.
How long we keep it
Enquiries and applications are kept for as long as we need them to respond and to keep proper school records. Newsletter email addresses are kept until you ask to stop receiving updates. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, and we will do so unless the law requires us to keep it.
Children and photographs
Some pages show photographs of students at school. We publish these with the school's permission, without full names or contact details on public pages. If you are a parent or guardian and want a photograph of your child removed, email info@empathycommunityhighschool.org and we will remove it. Our safeguarding commitments are set out on the child protection page.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop sending you updates. Email info@empathycommunityhighschool.org with the word "privacy" in the subject line. We aim to handle personal information in line with Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. Please check back if you want to see the current version.
