Every child deserves to learn and belong.
We give orphaned and vulnerable children in Mayuge a free or subsidised place to learn, board and grow, from Senior 1 through to the exams that open doors.

To provide safe, inclusive, and high-quality secondary education for vulnerable children, empowering them with knowledge, values, and skills to build a just and balanced future.
Founded in 2024 by the Empathy Children Initiative, our school serves as a beacon of hope for underserved communities in Mayuge District, Eastern Uganda.

Where a family cannot pay, donors cover the gap
Who we serve
Orphaned and vulnerable children in Eastern Uganda
Many of our students have lost one or both parents, or come from households where school fees were simply out of reach. Too often these children miss secondary school not because they cannot learn, but because no one can carry the cost.
ECHS removes that barrier. Admission does not depend on a family's money, and once a student is enrolled they eat, board, study and belong here. What we ask in return is effort: students work hard and look after one another.

Our programmes
We opened with O-Level and are growing a class at a time. Senior 1 and Senior 2 are teaching now; the rest of the secondary cycle follows.
Opening later
O-Level, Senior 3 and 4
The senior phase of O-Level opens as our first cohort progresses. Planning is underway for classrooms and staff.
Opening later
A-Level, Senior 5 and 6
A-Level will give our students the option to complete their secondary education without leaving home.
Opening years for Senior 3 upwards will be published here as each cohort moves up. We do not announce a date until the school can keep it.
Life at ECHS
Five houses, one school family
Every student belongs to a house. Houses give new students a first family on campus, run morning and evening routines, and compete fairly in sport and study.
